REBEKAH KIM
about me

My artwork spans multiple media, including painting, sculpture, installation, and community engagement. Primarily, I focus on creating spaces that challenge perception and prompt viewers to question the familiar through contrasting forms and materials. In my sculptural work, I often design pieces that feel dislocated from their settings, objects that appear simultaneously familiar and unsettling, inviting audiences to gather, pause, and reflect on overlooked aspects of daily life.
I am interested in the power of art to involve the spectator in transient, sometimes unsettling experiences that challenge normative structures and engage viewers on both a personal and societal level. Much of my work examines the intersections of consumerism, environmental impact, and industrial influence, exploring how these forces shape not only landscapes but also individual and collective identities. I seek to provoke awareness and conversation around the latent systems shaping our lives and landscapes through ephemeral and often paradoxical compositions.
